Preparing Your Flower Girl
Perhaps the best and easiest ways to prepare your
flower girl is buy her a book about being a flower girl that should
explain her role, and of course, get her excited. It is a good idea
to seat her parents on the aisle near the front so that the flower
girl can see them as she walks down the aisle and also during the
ceremony. It would also be helpful to ask a bridesmaid to be her
buddy. Also do make sure she uses the restroom before the ceremony.
Most importantly, do not get too nervous that
she could make a mistake. Even if your flower girl dumps all the
petals at the start of the aisle and runs instead of walking - or
even if she starts crying, the guests might think it is cute.
What should your flower girl wear?
Very often, the flower girl dress is a mini-version
of the bride's dress, or perhaps a white dress with a sash that
would match the bridesmaid's dresses. But then, you can pick any
sweet looking dress that is in sync with the look of the wedding.
It is vitally important to ensure that flower
girl dresses are comfortable and not too long - so that she
will not be pulling at her dress or tripping down! Just in case
your flower girl does not prefer dresses, go ahead and choose a
pants outfit with the same level of formality as the bridesmaid
dresses.
